More than 60 women specialized in motor journalism choose the Best Car in the World 2023 from a total of 59 candidates.
The 63 journalists that make up the jury of the Women’s World Car of the Year (Best Car of the Year chosen by Women) and which are distributed among 43 different countries have chosen this same Wednesday, March 8, as a tribute to the Working Women’s Day, to the new Kia Niro as the successor to the Peugeot 308 and absolute winner among all those who entered WWCOTY 2023. The Korean model has also prevailed over its rivals in the Best Urban Car category, while the Jeep Avenger has won the crown in the Best Family SUV category; the Citroën C5 X has done the same in the Best Family Car category; the Nissan X-Trail, in the Best Large SUV category; the Audi RS3 in the Best Sports Car and the Ford Ranger, in the Best 4×4.
According to Marta García, executive president of WWCOTY, the choice was especially difficult due to the excellent level of all candidates. “Each of the finalists had enough merit to win the trophy,” she says.
The Kia Niro adopts a 100% electrified range
However, as we say, the balance ended up leaning towards the Niro for, among other things, its numerous propulsion options (it has hybrid versions, both conventional and plug-in, and 100% electric), an elegant design, easy-to-use technology and comfort that is as desired, as explained by Elana Scherr, from the United States. The argument of the Belgian Sabrina Parant also goes along this line: «Kia continues to impress me… After the EV 6 and Sportage models, the Niro offers an attractive design, quality/luxury and a range of engines where all drivers can find the solution to your mobility needs. All these votes counted on the Grant Thornton official verification from its office in Auckland (New Zealand), an auditor that has been certifying the results of WWCOTY since its creation in 2009.
