Maserati is partying. After 66 years of waiting, the brand of the trident wins a monoposto race againafter Maximilian Günther’s weekend victory in the Jakarta e-Prix, round eleven of the Formula E World Championship.
The victory of the pilot Maserati MSG Racing is the first for the brand in a single post category since Juan Manuel Fangio triumphed in the 1957 German Grand Prix. After his retirement from racing at the end of that decade, Maserati competed quite successfully in Grand Prix races. Turismo, but never again in a formula car.
Günther triumphed in the second of two races held in the Indonesian capital this weekend. Already in the first race, the German had taken pole position but finished third, in a test won by his compatriot Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) and behind Kake Dennis (Andretti). The following day, Günther got his first victory of the season starting again from pole position.
With these good results achieved in Jakarta, Maserati MSG Racing jumps to sixth place in the Formula E Constructors’ Championship, while Günther, with his 46 points won on the two dates, rises to 7th place with 70 units.

Wehrlein, meanwhile, has 33 units and rises to first in the ranking, although only by one unit over Jake Dennis and 6 over Nick Cassidy.
The next Formula E date will be held on June 24 at the debutant Portland e-Prix.
