At the end of 2022 and so far in 2023, various brands are making a display of compact SUVs, such as the case of Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and the one that concerns us for this note, the Nissan X-Trail, but the e-Power variant.
We already had our first approach with it, we went to meet it and drive it at the Nissan Aguascalientes plant. Right away we give you all our impressions, but not before clarifying that the price was not revealed to us at the time we published this report.

2023 Nissan X-Trail e-Power: Safety

- smart cruise control
- Intelligent lane change and blind spot intervention
- intelligent emergency braking
Nissan X-Trail e-Power 2023: Technical improvements
This new X-Trail e-Power benefits from a series of improvements that we already found in the combustion version, such as:
- The chassis is lighter and has high rigidity.
- An electronically assisted steering with faster gear ratio. This makes the address more communicative at high and low speeds.
- A suspension with rigid mounts at the front and a new generation Multilink at the rear. This gives a better balance in curves, as well as the optimal filtering of deformations on the road.
It had extensive insulation work, bearing noise such as that coming from the engine was reduced, using a double-layer carpet, better insulated fenders, acoustic windshield and front glass, as well as certain elements in the engine to reduce noise and most outstanding, a sound cancellation system, which provides a very quiet cabin.

2023 Nissan X-Trail e-Power: e-Power Technology
As its name indicates, what makes this X-Trail special is the e-Power technology and that we originally met in the Kicks that bears the same name. We are talking then that the Nissan X-Trail e-Power is an electric car with extended range and it is not a hybrid, here we make a parenthesis to clarify this.
A hybrid to move uses both the electric motor and the combustion engine. Both combined and connected to the wheels, they drive them.
Not so in the case of the X-Trail e-Power. Here you have an electric motor, which is the only one that gives power as torque to the wheels, and it is powered by a battery. Which is loaded with the gasoline engine that it has, it never intervenes to move the wheels, it is not even connected to them.

The Nissan X-Trail, having e-Power technology, has the advantages of granting:
- Better acceleration, it does 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds.
- Better autonomy, which is guaranteed with a well-charged battery and is free of chargers.
- The engine is quieter and is friendly to the environment.
- To achieve the above, the X-Trail e-Power consists of:
- A 2.1 kW battery, which is located under the front seats.
- You have a generator, which is a 1.5L turbo combustion engine with 142 Hp and 184 Lb-ft of torque.
- The electric motor is 188 Hp and 243 Lb-ft.
- e-step function, which allows you to accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal. Here the regenerative braking is given via the motor and the regenerated energy is sent to the battery.
2023 Nissan X-Trail e-Power: Handling
If there is a section in which this X-Trail e-Power makes a difference with the combustion one, it is precisely in the dynamic behavior. The acceleration it gives you is really generous, super linear. The power of electrification is perceived at the touch of the pedal and it is very easy to return to the desired average speed, in recoveries.
As far as suspension work is concerned, it has a very well balanced setting. It offers a smooth ride comfort at the same time that it eats deformed roads, in stressful situations it perfectly stabilizes the chassis. When walking the work of the soundproofing to which it was subjected is very effective, no noise gets in, not even rolling.

The steering for its part is communicative, either at low or high speeds, it is smooth and perfectly pointed when taking a curve.
Regarding the work of the e-step, we have to say that it performs well, causing you to really forget to slow down by braking, when you reach a traffic light, for example, or take a curve. The operation is very natural and really surprised us.
2023 Nissan X-Trail e-Power: Conclusion
In this first approach that we had with the Nissan X-Trail e-Power We were very surprised with the advantages and benefits of this technology in this SUV, which I have to say are ideal for a country like ours where the charger infrastructure is terrible. or non-existent (and that it is even used in Australia where it is also marketed).
It is a very complete SUV because in addition to having all the benefits that electrification entails, it also has the legal ones, such as not checking, not paying possession, etc. It also has all the equipment such as comfort so that your family can travel comfortably.
