“With Michael as a consultant by your side, Mick would be a starting driver for a good team. With all his experience, Michael could have given his son so much advice. ‘Schumi’ would have shown him the right path, in terms of leadership, but also politically,” he said.
The former head of F1 points out that the ideal place for Mick was the academy of Red Bull and not the one of Ferrari: “Mick was in the wrong team. Red Bull would have been better for him. They would have cared more about him there and they would have made him grow as a driver.”
He believes that his last name has not helped him to progress in the competition. Everyone expected great things from him: “The burden of his name is heavy. Living up to its name is its biggest problem. It will be difficult for him to find a seat…”
At the moment the young German, 23 years old, is a substitute driver behind Hamilton and Russell. He has lost the starting driver’s seat, but he is still linked to F1 in one of the teams that always aspires to everything.
