But her life was not that, her life had chiaroscuro that Mireia, years later, could see accentuated when Joana closed the doors of her house to her when she returned to Barcelona after years of professional success in Oslo. ‘Bronca’ T1, April 6

In 2020 Russel Crowe starred in the movie ‘Savage’. It is not the most recommended film of his but he had a starting point that many will find familiar. Her character has a run-in on the road with a woman who gives him an eternal honk to which he answers by chasing her to kill her. The car has that, irons and glass that seem to protect its occupants to the point of daring to do what they would never do as pedestrians, from uttering insults to picking their noses as if the world beyond the windshield didn’t exist.

‘Bronca’ is exactly that, the confrontation between two strangers following a traffic accident who will bring out their most maddening side to end up submerged in the obsession to finish off the other and manage to crush him for revenge. He is a failed contractor and she is a businesswoman who is not happy with his work. Somehow, they both need a place to vent the frustration of their misery and they’ll find it on the road.

‘Transatlantic’, April 7

We go back to Marseille in 1940 when, in the middle of World War II, two Americans with accomplices on this side of the pond, will launch a precarious operation with the intention of helping a group of artists, writers and intellectuals seeking to flee Europe to save their lives. With them there will be many other refugees who for the Nazis will be nothing more than scum that they must exterminate without further consideration. Immersed in the culture of war and absorbed by the reverie of German supremacy, they will use the cruelest violence to combat the diversity that these people represent.

Among the main characters we will find an American journalist educated at Harvard who, seeing what is coming and outraged by the passivity of his own country, decides to take action. We will also see a wealthy American heiress who joins the rescue operation excited to be able to use her resources and time for a worthwhile cause. Opposite them they will find the US consul in Marseille, who believes that the refugees compromise the values of his country and is not at all willing to pitch in.

‘The good mothers’ T1, April 6

This is the story, based on true events, of three women who decide to rebel against their husbands’ Italian mafia clans. But it is not about a betrayal between partners, but about the wives and mothers who, aware that they live subjugated by the macho and abusive treatment of their partners, will say enough. The authorities that fight to dismantle these castes, hitherto insurmountable, of criminality will see in them a true Trojan horse.

Trying to make them see that another life is possible, the prosecutor Anna Colace, who has just arrived in Calabria, will try to use her betrayal to reach the heart of the Ndrangheta, one of the most dangerous families in the country. ‘Good mothers’ will have to put the future of their own children at stake because the men they are challenging with their audacity are known for using the greatest cruelty to finish off their enemies. Possibly, now they consider that their own wives are also.

SkyShowtime

‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladys’ T1, April 7

Whoever wants to put buts on it should do it, but the 1978 movie ‘Grease’ has stood the test of time very well. Its original soundtrack is riddled with great songs that have stayed with us forever and its main actors, John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, became real celebrities. The story of the romance between Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson went around the world and, although musicals have already been made, it was a matter of time before a series was made and it is finally here. But the curious thing is that ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Lady’ is not a remake to use, but tells the story of the Pink Ladys, a group of friends who struggled to be the most cool high school four years before the arrival of Danny and Sandy. They are Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty and Jan, names that anyone who has seen the original film will be more than familiar.
