At auction Slot Cars track emulating the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the best is the case.

Today it is a reality that Unheard of things are found in the virtual auction house called Bring a Trailer and a button is enough to show it, the beautiful Lamborghini Espada that was the winner of the Concours d’Elegance in the 8th Edition of the Mayan Rally 2022 was acquired on that site.

Well, in Bring a Trailer there is an interesting, collectible and also unique pieceit is a “Slot” car track that emulates scenes from the movie The 24 Hours of Le Mans starring Steve McQueen.

A creation made in 2012 by the company Slot Mods of Detroit, Michigan

Regardless of the degree of detail of the 1/32 scale cars, the most interesting thing about this control car racing toy is precisely where it is housed.

It is inside a body replica of a Porsche 917 in the colors of the Gulf team and it is worth noting that Pedro Rodríguez, winner of Le Mans in 1968, competed in a Ford GT40 with the same colors and sponsored by Gulf and also Pedro Rodríguez was World Prototype Car Champion in 1970 using a Porsche 917 with those same colors.

The body is approximately four meters long and 1.8 wide – the dimensions are not the same as a Porsche 917, but they are very close for what its conception looks proportionate. The measurements of a real Porsche 917 are: 4,140 mm long, 1,975 mm wide and 920 mm high.

The level of detail in the model is very good, since we can clearly see the publicity of the track, including Dunlop Bridge, Martini’s Barn and the many Esso signs, the stands, the public, the trees and the whole atmosphere of the mythical French race.

The package comes with a set of 19 slot cars, where there are some historical licenses:

The most outstanding are a Ford GT40 modified as a car with a camera emulating the one used in the filming of the Steve McQueen movie, a Ferrari 512 Coda Lunga, a Lola T70, a Porsche 917 in Martini colors and also a 917 with the Gulf livery representing the #20 car driven by Steve McQueen at Le Mans. Also shown is the Porsche 917K in the colors of Salzburg that was driven to victory by Hans Herrmann and Richard Atwood in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans and one or another modern car out there, albeit on the same scale (1/ 32).

The “shell” or the case of the track has functional details such as lights, cleaners, exhaust outlets and the tires -slicks of course- have marked and also notorious wear, so it is that when there is no one playing with the track, the “case” is a true decorative element wherever it is.

The auction ends on April 4 and at the time of writing this note, the virtual bids exceeded 90,000 US dollars.
