While we continue to see more of the same in China, CUPRA takes the opportunity to test in the Green Hell with the new Leon Sportstourer; Station Wagon for friends, or what in Mexico we know as Guayín. A very undervalued silhouette but of which we were able to have quite a few models from many brands, especially in the 90-00s. Speaking of León, we did have the ST on the market, let’s say the “normal” version before CUPRA appeared, but it also passed “without pain or glory”.
In Europe the matter is quite the opposite. The ST silhouettes are highly valued and besieged, since they are commonly accompanied by high-performance mechanics (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc.). obviously CUPRA was not going to be left out of the game, and for such purposes it reinterpreted the ST version of the well-known Leon.

And just for its redesign -which has coincided with that of the Formentor-, the brand tests with similar shapes and details, logically seeking to maintain the same design language, but with the necessary distinctives between each model, so León Sportstourer, under the dense disguise, revealed the following during his laps in the “Ring”:
- New front fascia
- Grill with slight design tweaks
- new air intakes
- New Cupra logo

Carscoops colleagues could only capture it in full displacement, so we do not have any information about the cabin, however, the mechanical possibilities may be quite a lot.
Cupra Leon Sportstourer: Engine options
As we know, within its range, CUPRA has the boys to watch out for, the bad guys and the friendly ones, talking about motor skills and performance. For the León Sportstourer the plan seems to be the same, because so far, in the mechanical section, the following possibilities are being considered:
- 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine with 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque
- 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine with 188 hp and 242 lb-ft of torque
- Hybrid variant: 1.4 TSI engine associated with an electric motor and 13 kWh battery; total power of 201 Hp and electrical autonomy of 61 kilometers.

For those who do not intend to go slowly, the Spanish firm will offer the CUPRA León Sportstourer VZ, a little beast that will offer the following mechanics:
- 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine with 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque
- Plug-in hybrid variant with 242 Hp and 59 km of electric autonomy.
So as you can see, CUPRA continues to have its sights well set on its “techno-performance” proposal in which, until now, gasoline is still being thought of, amen!
