Barely a few minutes had gone by in Free Practice 1 whenPierre Gasleyreported by radio problems in his Alpine. I couldn’t change gear and the car stopped. He wouldn’t start and had to go out in a tow truck.
That problem raised the red flag in the Canadian Grand Prix. But she did not stop there. Because even though the car was withdrawn, the red flag continued. And it had nothing to do with the complications of the French car.
The reason was security. Formula 1 announced it. Circuit cameras were not working properly and the session could not be resumed. So the minutes passed.
A couple of hours before, several of the teams’ boxes had lost power. Lots of problems on a critical Friday due to weather conditions.
Because Free Practice 1 was held dry, as the race will be. However, both Free Practice 2 and Free Practice 3 will be with storms. So the teams will not be able to test their cars.
Extend Free Practice 2?
The FIA suggested that since Free Practice 1 could not be held, extend the time in Free Practice 2. Of course, those training sessions are expected to be in the rain. The session will begin half an hour before (10:30 am) and will last a total of 90 minutes.
