In the world of Formula 1 there has always been one team above the rest, something that makes the competition much less entertaining. Therefore, for benefit of the show and by own interest, Alpine has requested that Same in the engines.
This is mainly due to the fact that the Renault engines are not found at height of those of his rivals. Moreover, approximately the difference in benefits could be between twenty and 33hpsomething that represents a huge gap in the ‘Great Circus’.
For this reason, according to what ‘Motorsport’ has learned, balancing the manufacturers’ engines will be one of the topics which will be addressed in the meeting of the Commission of the F1 during the Belgian GP this next week.
Renault is precisely the manufacturer most affected by this because, with the engines frozen until 2025hard limits do not allow them to change or evolve power units.
Likewise, the technical regulation of the FIA establishes that only elements of the engine may be modified “for the sole purpose of improving reliability, safety, cost savings or minor incidental changes”.
It would not be the first time
It would not be the first time that the performance of the engines in the history of the Formula 1. In the year 2007in the era of V8F1 has already equalized the grid after several teams took advantage of the regulation to achieve certain advantage.
A measure that would support equality in the competition and that, until now, it had not been considered since F1 itself considered that the yields they were sufficiently matched.
