They say that the opportunity for many manufacturers who want to return from the ashes is to insert themselves into electrification, and that is what it is doing. DeLorean Motor Company, a company that is only remembered for the fantastic DMC-12 that starred in Back to the Future.
At the beginning of 2022 he presented the Alpha5 2024 and at the end of the same year he exhibited some teasers of a second electric proposal, the Omega 2040. Both bear the signature of Italdesignwhich as we know, is no longer driven by Giorgetto Giugiaro (the author of the DMC-12, by the way) since it was sold to the Volkswagen Group.

Well, it was at the stand of the Italian design house at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where we met the brutal DeLorean’s Omega 2040, a concept created for an apocalyptic future or, in the best of cases, to run in the next Dakar. In fact, Italdesign itself indicates that it is inspired by “Baja-themed off-road racing”.
It is an all-terrain vehicle with a raised body and giant wheels, but elegant and aerodynamic lines. It is a kind of hybrid that suggests a multi-use proposition.

DeLorean’s signature gullwing doors remain present in this monster that was defined as “a somewhat iconoclastic model” that walks the line between elegant, polished virtuosity and rugged all-terrain appeal.
Not much is known about the objective of this design, but the truth is that it dazzled us at CES 2023.
