BMW and Tyde have unveiled “The Icon”, an ultra-luxury yacht powered solely by electricity and BMW i3 batteries.
When we think of him BMW flagshipMany of us have in mind the 7 Series, which has traditionally been the most luxurious model and which has released the main technological innovations of the Bavarian brand.
However, if we slightly overlook the metaphorical intention of that expression, the true current flagship of BMW is what has been dubbed the “The Icon”, an ultra-luxurious yacht built in collaboration with the boat manufacturer Tyde and powered solely by electricity.
Use batteries from the BMW i3

BMW, apart from many other things, contributes six batteries from your i3 model, its smallest and most veteran electric. Connected to a pair of 100 kW motors, the batteries provide a cruising range of 50 nautical miles, close to 100 km “land”, at an operating speed of 24 knots (44 km/h). The top speed is 55 km/h, which on land is not too impressive, but it is at sea.
The design of this The Icon offers a large space on board. BMW has been able to keep the hull essentially flat and offer a cabin width of 4.5 meters at the rear of the boat. Speaking of size, The Icon measures just over 45 feet from stem to stern: not quite a superyacht, but not quite a dinghy either.
Inside, it is curious to note that this boat incorporates a variant of iDrive, BMW’s native infotainment system. In addition, we have a 32-inch 6K touch screen with a version of BMW OS 8.

The metallic control console looks very elegant and we have a proliferation of glass throughout the cabin, which is covered in huge glass panels that offer a really wide view. As for the rest of the cabin, it looks like a living room filled with fabric furnishings, richly textured carpeting, and lots of metal accents. In addition, it has a powerful Dolby Atmos sound system, with propulsion noises created by soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer.
The Lamborghini of the seas is here
The Icon also draws attention for its excellent mix of straight lines, forceful surfaces and careful materials. BMW maintains that The Icon is not just a concept, it is a production-ready vessel.
