New tragedy in the rally world. The Avila pilot David Lopez Tomico has lost his life after suffering an accident while participating in the Rallysprint San Bartolome de Pinaresin Avila.
The accident occurred in the second timed section, at kilometer 15 of the AV-503, between the towns of San Bartolomé de Pinares and Herradón de Pinares.
In a downward section, the Fiat Abarth Grande Punto driven by David López left the road, falling down a ravine about 50 meters high. Despite the rapid action of the emergency services, they could not do anything to save his life.
It is the second tragedy that has shaken Spanish rallies in barely a week, after the death of two participants in it Villa de Tineo Rallyin Asturias, on April 15.
