Porsche is one of the brands that most take care of your classic models. In fact, they estimate that a large percentage of them are still on the roads and that fact is key to not abandoning them. This includes the availability of all kinds of spare parts, but also the possibility of incorporating current elements among its equipment. A curious detail is the PCCM multimedia system which was already available for some models and now there is the possibility of incorporating it into other youngtimers in the range.
It is worth remembering that the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) and its Plus version are multimedia systems with a screen included that can be adapted to some models that are not classic, but did not have this technology. Until now, it could be incorporated into the Porsche 911 (996) and the Boxster (986). However, the list of models is extended with the Porsche 911 (997), the Cayenne E1 and the Boxster and Cayman (987) second generation.
That means that the PCCM Plus will be able to be fitted to the 911 that was sold between 2005 and 2008, the first generation Cayenne (2003 to 2008) and the Boxster and Cayman also between 2005 and 2008. These yountimers would benefit from a 7 inch touch screen that incorporates connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in addition to other additional functions. What the brand does in its assembly is to replace the CD CDR 23 (Cayenne) and CD CDR 24 (Boxster/Cayman) radios with this system that fits perfectly both physically and in design.
I know take advantage of peripheral components that come standard (amplifier, speakers or antenna) and currently very important details such as navigation or multimedia playback are added. It also incorporates an on-board computer with many useful data for driving. The PCCM Plus for these specimens has a price of 1,635 euros in Spain, including SD memory card. The device and the maps are separate, but today everyone has a smartphone to connect to the system.
