Hyundai has introduced a system called e-Corner that would allow turning the wheels up to 90 degrees.
First revealed at CES 2018 and later at the 2021 and 2023 shows, the Hyundai Mobis e-Corner System can make your vehicle move and turn in ways you never thought possible. Is crabwalking technology it made its first appearance two years ago in a GMC Hummer EV and now the Korean brand is testing a version of this system in its Ioniq 5.
The e-Corner System developed by Hyundai Mobis, the car division for autonomous driving, connectivity and electrification solutions, is a four wheel base that can rotate the tires up to 90 degrees. It combines an electric shock absorber, a steer-by-wire system, a brake-by-wire system and a motor on each of the four wheels.

This allows the vehicle to parallel park without problems, pan sideways, drive diagonally, and even complete a full turn on the spot with zero-turn momentum. The company emphasizes that its integrated technology is suitable for compact and mid-size electric cars, as well as SUVs. Depending on the type, the e-Corner module can be adapted to fit in the vehicle base without taking up unnecessary space.
Still in the prototype phase, the technology may not be released immediately, but Hyundai Mobis hopes, or rather trusts, in start commercial production of the e-Corner system in 2025.
Hyundai Mobis introduced a cRobotaxi concept called M.Vision To equipped with e-Corner technology during CES. According to Hyundai Mobis, a vehicle like the M.Vision To could be used to offer rides or transport goods.
