Ford Mustang Shooting Brake, a weirdo half coupe half Mach E

Although Mercedes insists on calling its station wagons Shooting Brake, this type of bodywork combines a coupé with a wagon finish, resulting in a three-door sports car with greater comfort for four and load capacity.

Especially widespread in the United Kingdom, the invention dates back to before the appearance of the car, and was normally applied more by independent coachbuilders than by the brands themselves, one of the last examples being the Ferrari FF, although in this case, the rear end was short like a hatchback and not long like a station wagon.

Born from Sugar Design imagery, this quirky Mustang exists only in the virtual world., but it makes us dream of its passage to the real plane. The designers took a Mustang with the aesthetics of the new generation of the Pony Car and made a fundamental change, they stretched the roof to the rear edge by adding a tailgate. It is very interesting to see how the forms of the coupe adapt perfectly to this format.

Could Ford make it?

I personally believe that Ford wouldn’t invest in this silhouette, especially since it already has something similar in the Mach-E, which also adds rear doors and is aligned with the Crossover fashion.

Perhaps it would be viable as a way to maintain the interest of those who do not want to go 100% electric and still want to enjoy the sound of a V8. Would it reach or should join the fashion of adventurers? Just in case, at Autocosmos we already show you a Raptor adaptation of the muscle car.

What new variant of the Mustang would you like to see?
