paul monaghanRed Bull’s head of engineering, has commented on everything that has changed in the series since the introduction of the budget cap in an interview on ‘Autosport’: “discipline has changed. Before we could consider aspects that would involve major changes and that would have cost us more money. We were in an enormously privileged position to be able to consider it.”
“The budget cap has turned the tide a bit. So our discipline, engineering, has changed to accommodate those rules. What we have done in previous years, we cannot do now“, he added.
Despite regretting not being able to develop the car as much as they would like, Monaghan clarifies that all the teams are in the same situation: “The same happens with the other teams. It is a category that we all have to enjoy. It is the same for everyone, So let’s get to it and see how it goes.”
When asked about the offense committed in 2021, Monaghan opened up about it: “I suppose we could ask another question: Did we make the right pieces instead of the less valuable ones to keep up with our pace of development? If we compare ourselves with the rest of the teams, it is possible to think that the answer is yes”.
