General Motors says goodbye to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

In almost any vehicle multimedia system, compatibility is one of the most important aspects.. That is why various brands strive to offer platforms that are compatible with most smartphones, whose operating systems are practically monopolized today by a couple of companies, Google and Apple.

And it seems that, at least as far as General Motors is concerned, Google delivered a final blow. This happens because according to Reuters reports, General Motors will remove Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from its future electric cars, to adopt a native Google platform.

This change is intended to give homeowners a continuous access with a complete Google systemwhich will include Maps, Assistant, Audible, Spotify, Waze, among other applications. This will require the user to log in to the car to access features, just as they would on a personal computer, mirroring their data and preferences from the mobile to the car.

This is very convenient for General Motors and other brands, since that way they can make Valuable information from your users directly from the vehiclefrom driving habits to the music you listen to.

But the truly “juicy” for the automaker does not stop there. Thanks to this universe of Google applications, GM will be able to create from there future personalized subscription products, a trend that is already being seen in brands like BMW and unfortunately it aims to become popular.

Although not everything is paying extra to be able to heat your seat, Another of the possibilities of the subscription is directly subscribe to the use of the vehicle itselfa kind of lease that is already being tested by brands like Hyundai.

Beyond this imminent change, General Motors clarifies that current and soon-to-be-launched models will not lose access to CarPlay and Android Auto
