Many people attribute the meteoric evolution of the team Aston Martin to a ‘copy‘ of Red Bull. However, although this is largely the case, the British are not the only ones looking at rivals in order to evolve their cars in the right direction.
Red Bull technical director Adrian Newleyassures in some statements collected by ‘Sky Italy’ that “it’s a serious compliment when people copy“.
“It’s part of F1of course. we all look at each other. In truth, we have also copied other people’s things. Part of that copy is visual, part is occasionally people moving, we’ve seen that this year,” Newey said.
From Red Bull have made it clear, in turn, that in the Formula 1 can’t have”pride“:”You have to always evaluate what others are doing. You could end up copying it directly Or it could give you ideas of ‘why they did that’ and make you do something different.”

Adrian Newey, the Red Bull detective
A clear example that the ‘plagiarism‘in F1 they are something usual comes from the hand of one’s own Adrian Newley. It was recently revealed that Newey was inspired by Williams for an upgrade, despite the performance difference between the teams.
All these ideas come in from the rides Newey is given on the grid before the races start. At that moment, the Briton takes off his equipement of Red Bull to dress up detective and look for ideas derived from the rest of the teams.
He himself has taken it upon himself to explain why he does his common walks: “Most of the time it is to see what looks interesting and take a look at what our car does in that area in detail and if what they have done gives rise to any idea of how we could develop our own car“.
