The McMurtry Speirling is the fastest electric car over the quarter mile, breaking the record with a time of 7.97 seconds.
Cars like the Rimac Nevera, the Bugatti Chiron and the Pininfarina Battista must be red with envy, because an “unknown” electric car has managed to be the fastest in acceleration.
Its about McMurtry Speirlingwhich we already met a few months ago at Goodwood and which has now demonstrated its credentials on the Carwow YouTube channel.

Mat Watson, a journalist for this medium, has driven this electric supercar and has managed to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 1.4 seconds and cover the quarter mile (about 400 meters) in just 7.97 seconds. Rimac’s Nevera goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and until now it was the only production car that did the quarter mile in less than 9 seconds.
The unit in question was the same pre-production that McMurtry brought to Goodwood, so the company cannot yet claim that it has the world’s fastest-accelerating production car.
The McMurtry Speirling is an electric supercar that weighs less than a ton and develops 1,000 horsepower, which are transmitted only to the rear wheels. This pre-production unit has a limited top speed of 240 km/h, something that could be increased in the “street” variants.
The McMurtry Speirling has a 60 kWh battery which gives it a autonomy of 350 kilometersaccording to the WLTP certification cycle, which are drastically reduced at full power.

The single-seater electric sports car made its mark in the summer of 2022 by setting the fastest time ever at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (UK). The McMurtry Speirling covered the famous track in 39.08 seconds, beating the Volkswagen ID.R.
The McMurtry Speirling does not have a confirmed price, although some sources indicate that it can be purchased on request for about 1.4 million euros.
