MINI Cooper E, the fifth generation of the hatchback will be fully electrified

In a relatively short period of time, MINI has made it clear what its path to follow on electrification issues will be. Gradually we have been able to see the announcement or arrival of models like the Countryman EV, and even the accidental leak of what would be the new MINI Cooper.

The foregoing is reinforced by the good performance in the markets of the MINI Cooper SE, of which close to 43,000 units were delivered globally during 2022, yielding an interesting statistic: one in five MINI on the road is electric. With which the strategy is consolidated and adds the MINI Cooper E, to its family of electric vehicles.

MINI Cooper E: Heir to the Go-kart feeling

This version of the electrified hatchback joins the well-known MINI Cooper SE, maintaining the same mechanical principle: electric motor, high-voltage lithium-ion battery and the well-known tuning that gives it poise, agility and fun handling, a formula that it intends to preserve in this new electric phase.

For this purpose, MINI Cooper E, will have a competitive range of combined autonomy, accompanied by a motor support just one step below the MINI Cooper SE in performance issues:

  • Power: 135 kW
  • Battery: 40.7 kWh
  • Autonomy: between 300 and 400 kilometers

Regarding the cabin, MINI has not revealed much information except what is already known in terms of versatility and habitability.that is, there will be room for four passengers and the rear seats can be folded down to expand its cargo capacity.

MINI Cooper Electric will start manufacturing in November of the present 2023, along with the Countryman and the MINI Aceman (2024), at the BMW plant in Leipzig, Germany.
