Mitsuoka Himiko 2024, a retro-style Mazda MX-5, do you like it?

mitsuoka it is an almost unknown brand on this side of the world. In fact, its best-known model worldwide is the controversial OrochYo. But I’m going to tell you something, this manufacturer never goes unnoticed in Japan. Sometimes for the better and other times, not so much.

But in his latest creation called Mitsuoka Himiko 2024, it seems that they hit the nail on the head, since it mixes reliable and fun mechanics with a classic design, much to the taste of gentleman drivers. In fact, his image is a tribute to the Jaguar XK120.

This Himiko, is based on the Mazda MX-5. In fact, it is an update on the original model that was presented in 2018. For this year, it launches new badges, a leather interior, more body colors and some minor aesthetic details.

It also adds some upgrades to driving aids, as well as heated seats and even a CD and DVD player.

The engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder capable of delivering 129 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a six-speed automatic. Here it is not about speed, but about enjoying the road.

By the way, the design change translates into the fact that it is 665mm longer than an MX-5. Thus, it reaches 4.5 meters in length.

Being a low volume manufacturer, Mitsuoka plans to produce only 10 units of the new Himiko at a price of seven million yen, which at current exchange rates would be about $850,000 Mexican pesos.
