Turkish Professor Berrin Tansel, who is the Head of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at a university in the USA and also participated in NASA studies, was awarded by NASA. Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the International University in Florida, USA. Dr. Berrin Tansel was awarded the American Academy of Environmental Engineering and Scientists Science Award by NASA. Turkish Prof. Dr. Berrin Tansel won the American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists (AAEES) Science Award.
Having been conducting joint projects with NASA for the last 20 years, Prof. Dr. Tansel stated that he was very happy to be deemed worthy of the aforementioned award.
Tansel, who first started his work in the Space Life Sciences Laboratory at Kennedy Space Center and developed special projects to prevent the filter from clogging, is of great importance to be able to transform the water in spacecraft, especially wastewater, in order to send people to space. The amount of water used in spacecraft is less than in the world, but still takes up a large area inside the vehicles. For this, it is necessary to purify and recycle this water. He said that we made an effort on how to work water filters in an area without gravity and made a great contribution to development. Turkish Professor Tansel, who won the American Academy of Environmental Engineering and Scientists Science Award, stated that the award he received from NASA made him very happy.
