New Jeep Renegade 2022: launch in Argentina, from $4,268,000

ANDIt was one of the most anticipated novelties of the American firm and it is finally here: as part of its winter activities, Jeep presented the restyling of the Renegade, which incorporates several aesthetic, technological and mechanical modifications.

Since its debut in 2015, the Renegade has become one of the pillars of the company’s success worldwide, in our region and in our country in particular, where it has already sold more than 45,000 units. To continue being a benchmark in the B-SUV segment, this update brings design changes without in-depth altering its general appearance, more comfort and safety equipment and the new 1.3 turbo T270 engine.

These are its main features:

The new:

It is the restyling of the B-SUV that was presented earlier this year in Brazil and that brings with it several aesthetic, technological and mechanical novelties, for which the brand speaks of a “new generation”, although it is an update.

At the design level, the modifications are subtle, in the front sector the mask that joins the headlights and the grill was slightly redesigned -now it is thinner- and the Led headlights, which incorporate the turning lights in the DRL ring and that follows the contour of the optics. Below, the bumper has been completely redesigned, with straighter lines, new fog lights and a more prominent bumper. In this case, and unlike the previous series in which the Trailhawk version had a different bumper, the entire range has the same, only the appliqués and small details vary. In profile there are no very important changes, only the casing of the mirrors -with a graphite-colored frame- and the design of the alloy wheels, while in the rear part the headlights were updated and now have a more three-dimensional format, maintaining the X design. The bumper is new, with a larger protection zone, tow hook (in the case of Trailhawk) and auxiliary lights on the ends.Following the same formula from the outside, inside there are also modifications but quite specific: it incorporated the 100% digital instruments inherited from the Fiat Toro and a new 7 or 8.4” screen (depending on the version) for the Uconnect multimedia system. Likewise, it adds the brand’s new steering wheel, released in the restyling of the Compass and in the new Commander. It continues to stand out for its complete comfort and safety equipment, including driving assistance from the Longitude version.

Unlike Brazil, where all versions have the 175 hp 1.3 turbo gasoline engine (T270) only with a 6 or 9-speed automatic gearbox, in our country the 130 hp 1.8 eTorQ is maintained -with a manual or automatic option- for the Sport versions, while the Longitude and Trailhawk do incorporate the Firefly turbo propellant, also leaving aside the Multijet diesel option.

Versions:

The three trim levels are maintained (Sport, Longitude and Trailhawk), available with two engine and transmission options.

Comfort equipment:

The version Sport It has air conditioning, electric windows, on-board computer with 3.5″ display, Uconnect multimedia system with 7″ touch screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, central locking, fabric upholstery, multifunction steering wheel, parking brake electric, height and depth adjustable steering column, 60/40 folding rear seats, Led headlights and 17” alloy wheels.

The version Longitude adds dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, push-button ignition, digital instrumentation with 7″ color TFT display, Uconnect multimedia system with 8″ touch screen, electric panoramic sunroof, Traction Control+ system, wireless charger , Park Assist parking assistant, remote start, rain and twilight sensor and 18” alloy wheels.

The version trail hawk adds specific accessories (two-tone paint, hood sticker, Granite Crystal mirror housing, mixed-use tires), electrochromic rearview mirror, Selec-Terrain terrain selector and 17” alloy wheels.

Safety equipment:

the whole range It has 6 airbags (front, side and curtain), four-wheel disc brakes with ABS/EBD/BA, traction control, stability control, roll mitigation control, tire pressure sensor, driver assistant. starting on slopes and Isofix anchors.

versions Longitude and Trailhawk They add knee airbag for the driver, blind spot detector, involuntary lane change alert, pre-collision brake assistant, traffic sign detector and fatigue detector.

Mechanics:

The Sport versions maintain the well-known 1.8 eTorQ petrol engine that develops 130 hp at 5,250 rpm and 182 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm, available with a 5-speed manual gearbox or the 6-speed automatic transmission with torque converter, always with front-wheel drive.

The Longitude and Trailhawk versions incorporate the new Firefly 1.3 turbo petrol engine (T270) that delivers 175 hp at 5,750 rpm and 270 Nm of torque at 1,850 rpm. It is associated with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission in the case of the Longitude, with front-wheel drive, or a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 drive in the Trailhawk. The latter also adds the Jeep Active Drive Lowd system, which allows the engagement of the all-wheel drive automatically in conditions of low grip and is also integrated into the terrain selector (Jeep Selec-Terrain) with Auto modes (automatic engagement of the double traction), Sport (prioritizes performance), Snow (snow) and Sand / Mud (sand or mud).
