Mes after the first photos were leaked during a presentation for customers and dealers, Toyota finally presented the third edition of the Hilux GR-Sport to the public and the press.
Produced at the Zárate plant along with the rest of the range, it offers a more aggressive aesthetic and greater off-road preparation, as well as a specific tuning of the engine, suspension, steering and brakes. It should be noted that, like its predecessors, it was developed in the country and will be marketed throughout the region.
These are its main features:
The new:
It is the third edition of the Hilux GR-Sport, the version with sportier aesthetics and greater off-road preparation of the medium-sized pick-up. Inspired by the prototype that participates in the Dakar, in this case, the brand chose to give it a more striking customization instead of the more sober appearance of, for example, the Japanese version: it stands out for the huge grille with a shiny black frame. and a specific grille with the name of the brand and the emblem of Gazoo Racing instead of the traditional logo of the Japanese firm. The bumper is also unique and features a new C-frame for the fog lights, while the hood and roof are painted black, as are the mirror casings and door handles.

In profile, the black plastic wheel arch protections and the new 17” alloy wheels stand out, also with an exclusive design and diamond finish. It also has side steps and stickers with the characteristic colors of Gazoo Racing on the bottom of the doors. Finally, at the rear, the headlights feature a blacked-out mask and gloss black bumpers.
Inside, the GR-Sport features sport seats trimmed in micro-perforated leather with red stitching, embroidered Gazoo Racing emblem seat backs, black headlining, red appliqués on the dash and door panels and the GR division logo on the steering wheel, power button, and instrument animation.
Comfort equipment (highlight):
Multimedia system with 8” touch screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with Bluetooth/USB/AUX with integrated browser and digital TV, JBL Premium audio system with 8 speakers and subwoofer, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, central locking , electric windows with one touch, front and rear parking sensors, camera system with 360º vision, on-board computer with 4.2” display, seats with electrical regulation and ventilation, smart entry system (Smart Entry System) and button ignition, among other items.

Safety equipment:
Like the entire range, it has 7 airbags (front, side, curtain and knee for the driver) along with brakes with ABS/EBD/BA, traction control, stability control (with a new calibration), control trailer sway, emergency braking lights and Isofix anchorages in the double cab versions.
Like the SRX, it includes the Toyota Safety Sense driving assistance package, made up of adaptive cruise control, frontal pre-collision system and automatic emergency braking, involuntary lane departure warning and automatic light assistant.

Mechanics:
Unlike the previous series that introduced the 4.0 V6 gasoline engine as a novelty, for the third edition Toyota decided to keep the well-known 2.8-liter 1GD turbodiesel engine, but with a new calibration. In this case, it develops 224 hp and 550 Nm of torque and is coupled only to the automatic transmission with a 6-speed torque converter, with a sequential option and steering wheel paddles.
The 4×4 drive system is the same as the conventional versions of the Hilux, with electronic drive, gearbox and differential lock.
On the other hand, the brand worked especially on the suspension, to adapt it to both greater power and more aggressive use: it maintains the monotube shock absorbers from the previous series, but with a specific calibration.
Colors:
Mica Black, Metallic Red and Pearl White (these last two are two-tone, with a black roof and hood).
