If you didn’t know, Omoda has ceased to be a sub-brand of Chirey and is now an independent brand. Likewise, two vehicles are currently part of its range, the Omoda C5 (before 5) and the recently launched Omoda 05.
Well, now we tell you about another model that comes to Mexico, from this brand. We refer to the electric variant of the C5, the Omoda C5 EV or 5 e-QUA (The final name for our market is not yet defined).
The firm invited us to China to meet him, and we will immediately reveal what we know. Be careful, some things may change once you arrive in Mexico.
Omoda C5 EV 2024: What we know
Abroad
It maintains the same design with the combustion one but with slight changes:
- Ditch the flashy honeycomb grill for a cleaner design.
- It has a piano black insert at the end of the chest with the Omoda name.
- DRL lights flanking the aforementioned Omoda emblem.
- In the lower part of the fascia, a huge air intake and on the sides the main lights.
- On the front is the charging port.
- On the sides, 18” wheels in piano black finish with aluminum.
- Floating ceiling at D post height.
- At the rear, LED taillights linked by a light bar that runs the length of the tailgate.
- The rear fascia is finished in black plastic with dark polished aluminum.
- It lacks “C5 EV” emblems.
Inside
- Synthetic leather trim for console, door panels and seats.
- Finishes in piano black, imitation wood in various parts and aluminium.
- Flattened leather-wrapped steering wheel, with a copper insert at the bottom.
- Air vents and rear heated seats.
- Three headrests, like rear armrests.
- Spaces to store things: magazine racks, in door panels, in the central column in the lower and upper part (discreetly hidden by small covers).
- Automatic climate.
- Display that integrates the instrument panel and the infotainment touch screen, each measuring 12.3”.
- Trunk type control to operate volume as driving modes.
Mechanics
- This electric SUV uses a single electric motor that goes in the front, so it is front-wheel drive.
- The power is 201 hp (150 kW)
- Torque is 251 Lb-ft.
Battery and autonomy
- The battery would be 64 kWh.
- With fast charging socket, the battery could be charged to 80% in 40 minutes
- Regarding autonomy, there will be two options, one of 300 km and another of 450 km (for this it would be the 64kWh battery).
This car production is expected to begin in the third quarter of the year, so that it arrives in the country at the end of the year.
