Online dangers threatening teenagers

Attracts attention with its young population of approximately 25 million people in Turkey are children under the age of 18 and now head of the youth can not remove the virtual realm. 23 million families live in the fore by a majority of young population in Turkey and the world is made up of nearly 20 million of them from families with children. As such, a series of precautions must be taken against the dangers of the virtual world in the country where children and young people are concentrated. Because the most important factor threatening young people and children today, online dangers are increasing their energy day by day. Children who are more intimate with the virtual world and social media, on top of that, spend much more time in front of the screens while experiencing the distance education process. So how aware are families of the online danger that has the ability to interfere with their lives from the virtual world to your homes?

From cyberbullying to child pornography, from drug-promoting publications to gambling, many dangers are now at our fingertips. In the coronavirus times we are in, if you think that my child does not leave the house, does not get involved in habits, does not talk to anyone, you are in a great error.

There are also serious academic studies on the subject. Striking results were obtained in a study conducted by Istanbul University on “Cyber Bullying.” According to the research, only 11 percent of the Z generation between the ages of 9 and 22 are unfortunately aware of the dangers they face. COMPUTERS CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH HARMFUL SOFTWARE We are living in a period in which the appetite of those who want to gain illegitimate benefit from this development is increased when there is no home or even pocket where internet technology does not enter. Dangers also change dimensions depending on the behavior of the person. These attackers, who can use the cameras and microphones of the computers they seize with software as they wish, take control of more than 200 thousand devices almost every year. If your camera and microphone are under the control of someone else, you cannot guess what they will do (I think you should guess) Serious work is needed to increase the number of family members who are aware of this danger. Parents, grandparents, that is, everybody who is a parent should get involved without fear of computer technology – they should take control without saying "I don't understand". However, it is seen that the number of families who are aware of this issue is low. SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING of Turkey in the social media accounts of the family is known that a significant proportion of children like 81 percent share photos and videos on social media. In normal life, the probability of mothers and fathers to share a photo of their child between the ages of 4-11 with someone they do not know on the street is actually 24%. But when it comes to social media, the rate skyrockets. The rate of families who know that these shared photos and videos have been left to an environment that someone can easily see for many years, and that these shares will remain in the virtual world for many years, is only 6 percent. The situation is very serious. Do not forget that any information shared on the internet will live much longer than you do in this world, and sharing random information, photos and videos is capable of causing all kinds of negativity. HOW DO WE PROTECT? HOW DO WE PROTECT? In internet usage, it will be useful to constantly change the location instead of entering the virtual environment from a fixed center from the same place. Mobile devices and laptops are more efficient for this. It will be in your interest not to share location information unless an emergency is required. Computers can be taken under control with all the cookies that can be easily thrown to the computers, ie tracking programs. Anything harmful to children should be clearly explained. Have them sit down and explain on a piece of paper what the damages might be in the computer. Information should be given about harmful practices and harmful habits. It should be given basic information such as shutting down the computer in the form of log out, not about shutting off and exiting the computers of the children whose work is finished, not to take down the covers. The e-mail, address and passwords used by the children must be obtained by the elders of the family. Search histories should be checked periodically.
