Porsche invites us to “Dream big” and bring out the child in us

What’s going on?

Scottish artist Chris Labrooy, Porsche is bringing his global initiative ‘The Art of Dreams’ to North America for the first time.

The initiative addresses the theme of dreams with ephemeral works of art in the main cultural centers.

the sculpture of Labrooy addresses the child in each of us and invites viewers to dream big. It constitutes a physical anchor point with a Porsche project in the virtual world, which will be presented in the near future.

The ‘Dream Big’ installation can be seen on an artificial beach created in front of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). The facility is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., from November 29 to December 3. (2022)

Tribute to childhood dreams

The centerpiece of ‘Dream Big’ is a white Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. In the hands of a colossal figure in a pilot’s helmet, the Coupe looks like a toy car. The work is a tribute to childhood dreams. With a playful tone, the installation aims to inspire the viewer to wonder where their dreams will take them.

Digital artist and Porsche aficionado Chris Labrooy first created ‘Dream Big’ using computer-generated imagery (CGL) and then translated it into reality. The artwork is also a reference to a Porsche project in the virtual world that will be revealed in the near future.

“Porsche embodies the realization of dreams. With our ‘Art of Dreams’ initiative, we want to inspire people to do just that – dream,” said Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Porsche. “But we also want to support artists and make extraordinary works accessible to the public. In the United States, the best way to reach out to the art and design community is during Miami Art Week, when the creative heart of the world beats in South Florida. We are delighted to make our first appearance there.”

About ‘The Art of Dreams’

In October 2021, Porsche launched ‘The Art of Dreams’, a series of interactive art installations in major cities around the world. The first of these was a work by the French artist Cyril Lancelin in Paris. His installation ‘Remember your dreams’, with giant elements filled with air, was later exhibited in Singapore. This was followed in June 2022 by the installation ‘Everywhereness’, by Ruby Barber (Studio Mary Lennox, Berlin), at Milan Design Week. Featuring a maze of wild roses and a 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4, this botanical artwork explored the relationship between nature, man-made spaces, and technology.
