Sports motorsport teams need great logistics to move, get to the circuits and take all the necessary equipment to play races. That is why on the outskirts of the racetracks we can see several trucks on race days.
For several years, the Porsche racing team used Volkswagen utilities for the aforementioned logistics, turning the already legendary Combi into the emblematic Renndienst (racing service). These vehicles carried tools, parts, towed or transported the race cars, and sometimes even served as makeshift sleeping quarters.
These Renndienst were built primarily from the Volkswagen T1 and T2 models and proved quite the draw in the races of yesteryear. The original Renndienst accompanied the success of the Porsche 904, 908, 910 and 917, accompanying Porsche at events such as the Mille Miglia, the Marathon de la Route, Targa Florio and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The modern version retains the iconic burgundy red bodywork, white Porsche lettering and the Renndienst designation on the sides. The vehicle is standard, so it has a 204 HP electric motor that drives the rear wheels and a 77 kWh battery.
Unfortunately, these Renndienst will not be seen on the road courses as they were created for promotional purposes and they will be in Porsche showrooms in the Netherlands. At least this Porsche subsidiary also created a Taycan Sport Turismo with the same paint scheme, but it doesn’t seem like it’s for anything more than the photos, either.
