Red Bull gives a touch to Mercedes and praises Verstappen’s “patience”

max verstappen took victory at the Australian Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. The other Mercedes, the one with George Russell, did not finish due to a problem in its power unit. Without a doubt, the silver arrows surprised with his rhythm.

Red Bull, on the lips of Christian Hornerhas left a ‘stick’ for both Lewis and George, referring to them as “very aggressive” for what happened in the first moments of the race. He believes that if they did not collide with Verstappen it was because of his “patience”.

“Both Mercedes started fast, they were very aggressive on the first lap and Max was very patient not to be harmed“, the Red Bull boss stated in statements collected by ‘Motorsport’.

“George got a good start, and passed him into the first corner. And then Fernando and Lewis were on him, with the Brit sending a missile turn 3… Again, I think he had a lot of patience to get out of the way,” Horner insists.

After Russell’s pit stop, everything was easier for the Dutchman who, according to his boss, “solved it quickly”: “The red flag came out and it became a direct fight between Max and Lewis, and fixed it fast. Then it was a matter of controlling the race from then on.”

Verstappen ended up taking the victory with a comfortable advantage over Hamilton’s Mercedes. Nobody coughs up Red Bull at this start of the season and only a major reliability failure would take the two titles from them the following winter.
