The huge car group Stellantis and Foxconnknown for manufacturing semiconductors for almost every brand in the world, have established an alliance that gave birth to a new company called SiliconAutowhich will produce semiconductors for the automotive industry.
Chip production is stipulated to start in 2026 and will initially supply vehicles from the Stellantis groupwhich in case you haven’t read anything in recent years, is the group made up of the merger between PSA and FCA, encompassing the brands Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Abarth Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and RAM from FCA and Peugeot , Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall from the PSA Group.
SiliconAuto will be based in the Netherlands and will have a management team with executives from Stellantis and Foxconn. As we informed you at the time, the companies had already had an agreement for the first time in December 2021 to develop a family of semiconductors for automotive use.
It is worth remembering that Foxconn is also doing its part in the automotive industry and last year presented two of its own concepts, an all-electric pickup and crossover.
With this alliance, the Stellantis Group ensures not only a technological synergy, but a supply of chips that during the pandemic put the entire industry in check. This becomes especially important if we remember the claim that the brand has to make its product offer more and more electrified.
