When the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) announced the new aid program for the purchase of efficient vehicles, it said that the initial 400 million euros could be increased to 800 million euros if necessary. There are four autonomous communities in which the rate of requests for the aid of the third edition of the Moves Plan has exceeded the allocated amount: Catalonia, Madrid, Castilla y León and the Balearic Islands.
In total, these four autonomies have distributed 152 million euros from the Incentive Program for Efficient and Sustainable Mobility (MOVES III), which confirms that sales of electric cars are growing at a very good pace.

More budget for the Plan Moves III of four autonomous communities
MITECO has approved an additional budget of 125 million euros to promote electric mobility in Catalonia, the Community of Madrid, Castilla y León and the Balearic Islands.
These four autonomous communities are the first to have committed the funds they originally received and have requested an extension.
“With this additional allocation, the success of the program in its first months is provided and the success of the program is verified, whose calls began to open in the autonomous communities, progressively, since last July and which is in force until December 2023”, state official sources.

The additional 125 million euros are distributed as follows:
- For Castile and Leon originally received 20,188,644 euros, a new budget of the same amount is assigned
- Madrid which has exhausted its 57,152,998 euros receives a new allocation of 30,750,000 euros
- Catalonia received a first allocation of 65,587,765 euros; now request and receive a second contribution of the same value
- In Balearics They have requested 8.4 million euros after having distributed the 9,875,856 euros they received at the beginning of the plan
From MITECO they assure that other autonomous communities are preparing budget extension requests for their territories, which will be processed in the coming weeks.
