Six world titles, 82 victories and 77 pole position are the numbers of Lewis Hamilton in Mercedesand he has achieved all this in ten years, the ones he has been with the German team.
“A lot of people told me it was a mistake. But inside I knew that if I hadn’t made that decision, I would have regretted it. I didn’t think twice,” Hamilton recalls.
Then he admits having had a moment of doubt and thinking “have I made the right decision? I’ve decided to do it, and we’re going to give it our all” because then it came to mind “it would be nice to get a victory in that first year”, and then “we did it.”
Australian debut 2013
It was Australia 2013 and Hamilton was third behind Sebastian Vettel and of Mark Webberthen pilots of Red Bull. The Briton smiled under his helmet and impatiently awaited his debut after leaving McLaren behind.
“I wanted something new. I was excited by the idea of working with new people and joining a Formula 1 team that was not yet at the top.take everything I’ve learned and try to apply it there,” added Lewis.

He remembers how he felt “excited” because “I knew the team’s plans, they were doing everything possible to aim high”, and most importantly “I trusted my instincts”.
And he does not regret it because his journey, which is still ongoing, has helped him to form “part of a fantastic team“, he continued.

Despite believing that it was a risk, the ’44’ considered that it was “living to the fullest” and challenging himself and the people around him.
