Toyota and Gazoo Racing are already thinking about electric sports cars

Who has not been moved or at least felt a slight vibration in their being with the 24 hours of Le Mans, honestly, go check it out. So, imagine what Akio Toyoda, former CEO of Toyota which, has declared that the next electric sports vehicle signed by Gazoo Racing will be the tip of the iceberg for the development of technologies that allow to associate the driving sensations with those of thermal engines:

“The main point in developing an electric GR model is not the type of powertrain used, but how much fun it can be. Honestly, I don’t know if the prototype we are studying will reach the market. Either way, we are trying to understand what are the fundamental aspects that distinguish a sports car and that absolutely should not be lost in the transition to electric.

–Akio Toyoda, former CEO of Toyota.

Two of the main issues that have to be reviewed are the gearbox and the sound; something in which Lexus had already been working with a system that would simulate the change by “altering” the delivery of torque or power (engineering things), but that would provide that sensation, or at least the closest one.

Toyoda also claimed that The still hypothetical electrified Toyota GR will have a lot of aerodynamic work, logically in favor of autonomy and performance optimizationbut above all, it would be a completely new model, something that will have nothing to do with the GR Yaris & GR Corolla, nor with the GR Supra, nor with the GR86.

Toyota’s intentions are added to Audi’s actions, for example, who hand in hand with the recently deceased Ken Block developed the impressive 1,400 Hp Audi S1 Hoonitron.

What do you think a sports electric developed by Gazoo Racing would look like?
