Acura NSX Type S Active Aero Study It has been designed, developed and built for maximum aerodynamic performance on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
This vehicle was baptized as “Yamabiko” (which in Japanese tradition means a god or mythological spirit of the mountains).
Yamabiko presents a custom carbon fiber bodywork at the front and rear, which significantly improves downforce ability and reduces drag.

Incorporates active aerodynamic technology, including a dynamic rear wing, which acts as a Drag Reduction System (DRS) to increase speed on the faster sections of the track. To help slow the hybrid-powered supercar under hard braking, the electrically-operated rear wing deploys like an air brake, increasing stamina and improving balance.
The Acura NSX Type S Active Aero Study will be driven by James Robinson, Honda engineer and seasoned Pikes Peak racer who drove an NSX to the current hybrid class record (10:01.913) in 2022. “We created the Acura NSX Type S Active Aero Study, aka ‘Yamabiko,’ to enhance our own Pikes Peak record,” Robinson said. “It’s the most extreme vehicle the Acura racing team has ever raced sky high in.”

The Acura NSX Type S Active Aero Study has been designed at the new Honda Automotive Laboratories of Ohio (HALO) facilitywhich has 110,000 square meters and a 200-meter wind tunnel, the most advanced in the world.
