The employer of technical inspections of vehicles of the Community of Madrid has denounced the absenteeism of drivers to pass the ITV.
The accident rate at the wheel is suffering an upward trend in the last times. The greater number of trips, inappropriate speeds or forgetfulness at the wheel due to the use of mobile phones are usually the main causes indicated for this increase in road accidents, but there is another factor, which often goes unnoticed, which also has an impact important.
We talk about absenteeism in Technical Vehicle Inspections (ITV)because not having the car checked and in good condition supposes an added risk in driving.
200 euros fine for not passing it
ITVs contribute to improving road safety
This has been denounced by the Association of Entities for the Technical Inspection of Vehicles of the Community of Madrid (Aema-ITV), which has indicated that in Madrid they circulate around 40 percent of vehicles that pass it late or even do not pass it.
Remember that not passing the ITV, apart from the risk it entails, also implies the possibility of receiving an economic sanction. If the car has not been taken to pass the ITV in the specified time, the fine will be 200 euros (100 euros with prompt payment). At the same time, if you drive with a car that has passed the ITV as negative, the fine amounts to 500 euros, with no possibility of reduction for prompt payment.
“Going to the ITV inspection not only serves to avoid a fine for not carrying the current sticker, its true purpose is to ensure the correct operation of the vehicle in order to be able to improve road safety both for those who travel in that vehicle, and for the rest of the people on the roads”, says Jorge Soriano, president of Aema-ITV.
As Soriano explains, “going to the ITV station to check the vehicle and pass the inspection is only a small stop, but doing so guarantees everyone’s safety and it is in our hands to achieve it. And you have to remember that If it goes up to a month before it expires, it does not cause us to lose expiration, because the notice period is given as additional expiration”.
The organization has also recalled that, in order to guarantee security during displacements, it is important to prepare the vehicle to make sure it works correctly.
What changes are there in the ITV from July?
Mostly, one has to check tire pressure and make sure they have sufficient treadcheck the operation of the cooling systems, the level of fluid and the state of the brakes, as well as the state of the battery are some of the recommendations that Aema-ITV makes to be able to drive with peace of mind.
