If Shakira and Bizarrap’s song has swept YouTube with more than 67 million views in 24 hoursthe singer’s “darts” at Gerard Piqué have triggered 600% searches for Renault Twingo ads in all its generations, according to the analysis carried out in Autocasión, Autoscout24 and Unoauto, the specialized portals for used and new vehicles from Sumauto, which have more than 4 million users.
And it is that, from the new song by the Colombian artist, the phrase “You changed a Ferrari for a Twingo” has permeated, which has caused a tremendous worldwide impact and has led the likeable French car to be international trending topic.
It should be remembered that the small utility is recognized as a very popular car, especially in its country of birth. In fact, the first generation of the model (and to which Shakira refers) was marketed between 1992 and 2007, and more than 2.6 million units were sold.
Based on Google data, yesterday “Twingo”, “Renault Twingo” and “Twingo price” were also positioned among the most prominent searches of the day, especially in Spain and Latin American countries, followed by “what is a Twingo » and «tuingo», proof of the ignorance on the part of the citizens for this car.
According to Ignacio Garcia Rojí, spokesperson for Sumauto, “sometimes the best publicity comes from the most unexpected occasion and today’s consumer, so active on social networks, immediately channels what is trending and turns it into consumption.
