“The team has evolved a lot”

Aston Martin is putting a lot of effort into the new car for 2023 from Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. The British claim they have found “gaps” in the regulations that will benefit them, even if it takes them a while to fight for the World Cup. And the Canadian driver believes that the team is heading in the right direction.

In some statements collected by ‘Motorsport’, the Canadian praised the team’s ability to evolve last season after a bad start to the season: “I think the team has evolved a lot. Seeing the way things are done now, I think a couple of seasons ago we would have been in a much more difficult position to get out of a hole like the one we were in at the beginning.”

The British started 2022 with a lot of new staff signed from other factories and the adaptation took time until they found a good dynamic. And unlike Sebastian VettelStroll does believe that the new additions have helped.

“Many internal changes have been made. Thanks to that, we arrived in Barcelona (last season) with a completely new car and then we improved it. So, we found ourselves in a position that was much better. I don’t think a couple of years ago we would have been able to get out of that hole. We work closer together than in the past“He commented on it.

In addition, Stroll pointed out the point that Aston Martin has to improve this season: “We still have weekends where we don’t know why we’re not as competitive.. I think that for the future that has to be our objective: to be more competitive on different types of circuits. Seek greater efficiency with low and high downforce.”

“But when I look at where we came from at the beginning of the year, I think it’s been a big step in the right direction“, finished.
