The exodus of brands leaving Russia does not stop. To the list that already included Renault, Nissan, Toyota, Grupo Stellantis, Volkswagen and Ford, Mercedes Benz is now addedwhich during the presentation of its financial results for the third quarter informed its shareholders that it is withdrawing from Russia.
This was somewhat predictable, since since March the star brand stopped exporting vehicles from the Russian market and stopped local production at the Moscow plant. The decision that was transitory at the time has now become final.given that the assets owned by Mercedes-Benz in Russia (valued at 1.8 billion euros) were sold to the local company Avtodom.

Even so, Mercedes says it will keep its 15% stake in Russian truckmaker Kamaz. Natalia Koroleva, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Russia, stated: “The main priorities in agreeing the terms of the transaction were to maximize the fulfillment of obligations to Russian customers, both in terms of after-sales services and in terms of financial services, as well as preserve the jobs of employees in the Russian divisions of the company”.
The way in which Russia intends to deal with these actions that respond to the sanctions package that is being administered by the West, is to nationalize these factories and relaunch old historical names on the Russian market through alliances with Chinese manufacturers. This is how the revival of Moskvich and also Lada was announced.
