Carlos Sainz and the “opposition” that Red Bull has: “They have killed it…”

Red Bull has won the two victories that have been shared so far in the Formula 1 World Cup. The first was for max verstappen and the second for Sergio Perez in Saudi Arabia. The energy drink team seems unreachable and only Fernando Alonso has been behind.

Carlos Sainz, whose Ferrari is far behind in performance, believes that it is not possible: “There is a team called Red Bull that has killed the opposition with a car that is clearly superior to all the others”.

“Right now, Red Bull is superior everywhere: in qualifying, in the race, top speedsuperior in low and medium speed corners, they are superior in tire handling, over curbs and potholes,” explains Charles Leclerc’s teammate.

He recognizes that it is not a good time for those of Maranello: “It’s one of the most difficult moments, I’m not going to lie. Since 2021, we’ve been making progress. That year was already a good step in the right direction: we went from finishing P6 to finishing P3. Then there was a regulation change that allowed us to take a huge step in 2022”.

It details that they are not “too far” from Aston Martin and at the level of Mercedes: “If you look at Ferrari, we are there with Mercedes and we are not very far from Aston Martin in race pace.”

“For us it is very clear where the car’s weaknesses are, where are Red Bull’s strengths. And now the whole team is pushing in the same direction, trying to reduce that deficit”, says the Spanish driver.

He asks for “changes” to the team he now leads Fred Vasseur: “The extremely good performance at the start of last season made us keep pushing with this concept and project car, but now we realize that Red Bull has a clear advantage everywhere and we must start looking to our right and left.” “.
