According to internal sources cited by Autocar, Volkswagen has completely redesigned the ID 2, its smallest electric car, from the inside out with the proposed name ID Golf. Although there is nothing official, sources claim that various name combinations have been proposed recently, including the ID Golf.

The Volkswagen brand recently brought back former Bentley and Audi designer Andreas Mindt to lead the automaker’s efforts in the electric car segment. It is rumored that even a more conventional hatchback shape is being considered for this future ID Golf.

Those familiar with the first proposals maintain that, in terms of external dimensions, it is situated in a Midpoint between the current Polo and Golf combustion. In addition, it is intended to be a light car (between 1,600 and 1,700 kg) and with a single engine (front-wheel drive), although the MEB Plus platform is capable of supporting dual-engine versions (four-wheel drive).
