There are no absolute guarantees of anything. Nor is it about making a trip without suffering an incident, but carrying out preventive maintenance on the car helps to avoid problems of this type. And having to call your insurance roadside assistance is not pleasant at any time. The problem is that not all users carry out preventive maintenance correctly and on time, which is essential to avoid this type of problem. These forgetfulness and negligence do not exist in the case of subscription cars.
This is the case of Wabi subscription vehicles, which include all-risk insurance, maintenance – tire inspection, replacement and balancing – and revisions. That is why in this type of service, calls to the support service included in the subscription are reduced to a minimum. Only less than 1% of Wabi users use this service, a figure well below the average: according to data from Estamos Seguros (UNESPA), in Spain every 8 seconds a vehicle calls its insurer for incidents on the road.
Most of these problems are due to minor engine failures and, above all, to issues related to the battery or tires (punctures -in the first place- or blowouts, according to RACE data). In Wabi cars, for its part, the highest percentage of notices is related to these punctures. Although this is something that the driver can fix himself, around a third, according to some studies, prefer to call the assistance service. Remember that in the event of a puncture, you owe the vehicle as soon as possible so as not to damage the wheel and to be able to carry out a simple repair instead of changing the entire tire.
In addition, you must be attentive to their engraving and any possible changes to know when to replace them. The tire brands themselves recommend changing them between 40,000/50,000 km, if they are of good quality, in addition to checking the tire pressure once a month and before any long trip.
Simple, right? Well, one in four users does not do it regularly. “Vehicle maintenance entails dealing with unexpected expenses, such as changing tires. In the case of the subscription car, everything is included in a monthly fee, with no surprises, and it is one of the things that users value the most, according to the studies that we have carried out from Wabi”, they affirm from the company.
In addition, many of the incidents on the road are related to the age of the vehicle. Batteries, for example, are a recurring problem, since they usually have a useful life of 3 to 5 years and, in terms of engine breakdowns, they are much more frequent as the age and mileage of the car increases. The age of the vehicles is one of the factors that has the greatest impact on the increase in breakdowns, but at Wabi, “with new cars or cars less than 4 years old, this type of incident is considerably reduced,” they explain.
Wabi’s subscription car is thus positioned as a good alternative to rejuvenate the mobile fleet and avoid a good part of breakdowns and, therefore, calls to assistance services and tow trucks. Periodic reviews and proactive maintenance of vehicles is the best guarantee and, if, as in the case of the subscription car, a professional does it for you, even better.
