Hungary brings very good memories to Fernando Alonso. There he won his first race, put up a spectacular battle with Michael Schumacher in 2006 and he even did a fundamental job before Lewis Hamilton so that his partner at the time, Esteban Oconwon his first race in Formula 1.
The Hungaroring circuit is definitely special for the Asturian, but at the same time last season marked the beginning of an intense rivalry with Ocon, his partner at Alpine during 2021 and 2022.
It is true that the first clash between the two came in Saudi Arabia, but in Hungary came the explosion of the relationship between the two and a reiteration of actions from that moment. And it all came from a defense of the French at ’14’ taking him to the wall.
“Never in my life have I seen a defense like Esteban’s”Fernando Alonso commented on the radio. A defense that prevented his teammate from passing but did allow Daniel Ricciardo to get ahead of both.
A controversial action by the French taking him against the wall. After the race, the Spaniard was somewhat calmer: “I have had to lift both in turn 1 and in turn 2 and then in turn 5. He was on the outside and well, he was quite aggressive that first lap. I got up and so we didn’t touch each other.”
This caused the end of a cordial relationship between Ocon and Alonso, who repeated several more episodes of confrontation. And it all started in Hungary.
