BYD presents two new models with which to conquer the Spanish market — Electric car — Autobild.es

BYD has been slow to deploy in Europe, but once the decision is made, it wants to do it forcefully. A few months ago it introduced its initial wave of models, a trio consisting of the BYD Atto 3 compact SUV, the BYD Han sedan and the BYD Tang seven-seater SUV.

They are already on sale in Spain and will soon be accompanied by the two new cars that the company is going to present at the car barcelona.

The idea for this second phase is clear: launch models that complete the range below, electric vehicles with a more contained price and that compete directly with the general market proposals. The chosen ones have been BYD Dolphin and BYD Seal.

Both are representatives of the Ocean family and sport the new “Ocean Aesthetics” design language. They use the e-Platform 3.0a scalable architecture that integrates the battery into the chassis cradle to increase structural rigidity, a battery that is BYD’s Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that dispenses with cobalt.

He Dolphin It is a compact that will be BYD’s access model with a practical and accessible approach, according to the brand. It will mount a 204 CV (150 kW) motor, a 60 kWh capacity battery and approves a range of 427 kilometers.

In its design, the front shield stands out, with the fairing grill framed by a daytime LED strip and guarded by the optical groups; the two-tone format of the bodywork, the rising beltline brand and the shape of the rear lights, which occupy the entire width.

He seal It is a compact sedan (4.80 meters) that should compete against the Tesla Model 3. It has a very stylized design and details such as the headlights are reminiscent of those of the Porsche Taycan. It uses a rear propulsion system with 313 CV (230 kW) in the access version and a dual with integral traction 530 CV (390 kW) in the superior one.

In both cases, it mounts an 82 kWh battery that gives it a range of 570 and 520 kilometers in each case.

The brand has confirmed that both the BYD Dolphin and the BYD Seal will begin to be sold in Spain during the second half of the year, but no dates or prices have been specified. It is compatible with fast direct current charges of up to 150 kW, with which it goes from 30 to 80% in 26 minutes.
