Aston Martin sees Fernando Alonso “in another category”

It is a question that everyone Formula 1 asks itself: would it equal or improve Sebastian Vettelfour-time world champion of Formula 1the performance it is offering Fernando Alonso with the Aston Martin?

In the first six appointments on the F1 calendar, the Spaniard has added five podiumswhile the German in two years only got on the box once and sailed more in waters out of points.

In his native country, Germanythey are clear about the opinion of Aston Martin about. Ralph Bacha renowned journalist, affirms that from the green garage they see Alonso “in another category”.

“The Spaniard is really happy within the team. However, his predecessor at Aston Martin, Sebastian Vettel, you wouldn’t get excited if you heard the comparisons being made between the two world champions in the garages”, he pointed out.

“It’s almost like another category. If for example the son of the team owner, Lance Stroll, was more or less on par with the German in terms of speed, he is not standing a chance against Alonso. Fernando even gives his partner advice to do it faster,” he added.

“Accustomed to another team being superior”

The German journalist recalls that Fernando has always had to deal with rivals with superior cars, hence his smile in the Principality after a second place that could well have been a first if it weren’t for the Aston Martin mistake.

“In Monaco last Sunday, his 33rd career win would have been possible with a slightly better tire choice. However, he was happy with his second place and didn’t complain, because he is used to the fact that another team often has a superior car that gets in their way,” he explained.

Without going any further, remember the fierce battle between Alonso and Vettel when they were both in Ferrari and Red Bull respectively. The Spaniard, with an inferior car, touched the crown on two occasions. The German, since his departure, has not been close.

“In his Ferrari days from 2010 to 2014, it was Red Bull, as it is now, that prevented him from the big win. However, in 2010 and 2012 he was about to snatch the crown to the then flagship driver of the energy drink brand, Sebastian Vettel”, has settled.
