Bittersweet feeling in Mercedes after qualifying Hungarian Grand Prix. The Germans effusively celebrated Lewis Hamilton’s pole position, but in Q1 Toto Wolff left a viral image punching the table.
The new format brought Mercedes upside down. Lewis Hamilton managed to save the furniture and went through to Q2, but George Russell No. The ’63’ he was disturbed just before starting the return by Pierre Gasly and ended up paying dearly. He stayed out and will start 18th tomorrow.
Seeing the bad result of his pupil, Toto Wolff gave away another image to remember, very similar to the one he did in Abu Dhabi 2021 breaking the helmets against the table. On this occasion, he used his fist to angrily hit the tablean image captured by cameras.
Luckily for the table and Wolff’s physical integrity, Hamilton ended up taking his first pole position since Saudi Arabia 2021 and all the faces in Mercedes became happy.
A bittersweet classification for Mercedes and with an image of Toto Wolff to remember.
