The Canadian Grand Prix arrives, the one that Aston Martin marked in red on the calendar. The big buff pack arrives this weekend for Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. And the Asturian is excited about his options for next Sunday. The objective, at least, is to recover the podium.
Alonso has talked about these improvements on the team’s website: “We have some improvements for this weekend and our goal is to have a quiet weekend and score as many points as possible.”
“The next appointment is Montréal, a historic Formula 1 circuit that I have fond memories of. Last year, for example, I started second on the grid after a chaotic and wet qualifying session, it may rain again this weekend, so we’ll keep an eye on the radar,” said the two-time Formula 1 champion.
Barcelona has not been the best scenario, but it highlights the “points scored by the team”: “We had a double with Monaco and Spain, and we scored 32 points as a team. The atmosphere in Barcelona was phenomenal, but we had a difficult Saturday, and on Sunday we didn’t have enough rhythm to offer a show to the fans.”
Stroll expects a podium
“It is a circuit that also brings back good memorieslast year it was especially memorable to climb back seven places to finish in the points,” said Stroll, who will be racing at home this weekend.
Expect an even weekend:”With how even it has been in recent racesIt will be interesting to see what the circuit features do to the grid up and down this weekend. The differences will be very small, so we will do our best to offer a good show to my audience.”
Aston Martin has lost the second position in the world championship. The superiority of Mercedes in Barcelona(Lewis Hamilton was second and George Russell third) caused the silver arrows to take the lead in the standings.
