How quickly time has passed for the successful Volkswagen Tiguan, an SUV that has done so well that it has earned some nicknames such as “the GTI of SUVs” or “the super Golf”, among others. So, seven years after its appearance, the Wolfsburg house confirms that the third generation of Tiguan will be ready for the market from the first quarter of 2024.
This is confirmed by the usual teasers that show the new Tiguan rolling somewhere in the world, obviously well camouflagedshowing very little of what, at this stage, would already be the final product, but confirming what we have long suspected:
- The shapes and design are very similar to those of the electrified Volkswagen ID.4
- Grows in length (+3.2 cm) and height (+5 mm)
- Wheelbase and overall width remain (1.8m and 2.6m, respectively)
- HD Matrix LED headlights (could be optional)

It should be remembered that, for this third generation of Tiguan, Volkswagen uses the latest evolution of its modular architecture called MQB Evo
Volkswagen Tiguan MKIII: Interior and technology
The technological leap will be fundamental in the upcoming Tiguan, because with the arrival of new components and systems used in the ID family, traditional models will also benefit. Some of what we could see would be:
- 12.9 screen for the entry versions and 15” (like the ID.7) for the most equipped
- 10.25” OLED digital display
- New generation head-up display
Some of the amenities inside the cabin would be electric seats seasoned with ventilation, heating and massage. The cargo space gains 33 liters adding a total of 648 liters while the MQB Evo does its thing by providing more living space for the occupants.

And speaking of space, nothing official is known about any long version or the well-known Tiguan Allspace, which could find a substitute in the possible Tayron, model that is offered in the Chinese market and that in Europe is a “cousin” of the Skoda Kodiaq MKII.
Volkswagen Tiguan MKIII: Mechanical options
Without official details in this regard, it is expected that, at least in Europe, Volkswagen Tiguan is available with variants to gasoline, diesel, as well as an eHybrid that would deliver electric autonomy of up to 120 kilometers.
For North America, things could be a little different, so we’ll most likely continue to see the perennial 2.0-litre TSI engine and 1.4-litre. So It will be interesting to see how Volkswagen de México performs with the Tiguan production line in Puebla.

Do you think that Volkswagen Mexico should already introduce a hybrid variant of Tiguan?
