Netflix announced in April the first project by director Álex de la Iglesia for the platform, the thriller titled ‘1992’ which has already started filming in Seville and Madrid. The platform has also published the cast and the first poster of the series. Next, we review the keys to the series.
The cast and the plot
The series follows Amparo (Marian Álvarez), who after the death of her husband in a strange explosion begins to search for answers with the only help of Richi (Fernando Valdivielso), a security guard, ex-policeman and alcoholic. In this context, there are a series of mysterious murders that have the same pattern: the victims appear burned and a Curro doll appears next to the bodies, the beloved mascot of Expo’92 in Seville. Marian Alvarez (‘Unit’)winner of a Goya for ‘La herida’, leads the cast along with Fernando Valdivielso (‘Fanatic’) who will be the one who helps Álvarez’s character to investigate what has happened with her husband. Two other cast names that the platform has revealed are Paz Vegawhich we recently saw in the innovative series ‘Kaleidoscope’ and Carlos Santos (‘Paco’s men’‘The man with a thousand faces’), but at the moment it has not transpired what his role in history will be.

The influential director Álex de la Iglesia is known for his extensive filmography with titles such as ‘The Day of the Beast’, ‘The Oxford Murders’ or ‘The Community’). on this occasion He has turned to series to make his first fiction with Netflix together with his usual collaborator Jorge Guerricaechevarría. For the script she has relied on Pablo Tébar and Jorge Valdano and De la Iglesia will also be in charge of directing.
Also, the series is produced by Pokeepsie Films from director/writer and actress/producer Carolina Bang.
