Almost €45,000 has been fetched at auction for a Mini 1275 GT that has been gathering dust in a garage for 33 years.
A classic Mini, which has been hiding in a dusty garage for 33 yearshas just been auctioned for a staggering amount.
It is an eye-catching 1275 GT model, described as an ‘amazing result’, which has achieved a maximum bid of almost 45,000 euroswell above the little more than 11,000 euros that had been set as the initial goal in the auction.

The specimen is painted Bronze Yellow on black vinylthe bodywork and interior are still in more than acceptable condition, especially if we take into account that its owner had kept it, collecting dust, in a closed garage in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, since 1990.
The car has only had one owner and I barely had 19,000 kilometers traveled and it had the documents that ensured that its next review had to be carried out at 21,000 kilometers.

A spokesman for Classic Car Auctions, the company that has auctioned it, has pointed out that “one can only wonder why its owner kept it in a garage for three decades. But his discovery delighted Mini enthusiasts when it was sold as another of those pioneering icons of British motoring. It was an amazing result, building on the considerable pre-sale interest.”
And so much so that it was, taking into account that the auction closed with a sale price that tripled the objective set at first by the auction house.
Let’s remember that the Mini 1275 GT was defined in the past as a poor substitute for the Mini Cooper, Lacking the features of the original and sporting the Clubman front. The perception of it has changed over the years and now the luck of the model has changed for the better, and especially the first units manufactured are now highly appreciated by collectors.
