Netflix’s ‘true crime’ catalog is not only fed by cases in the United States, on June 9 The documentary series ‘Baraja: the assassin’s signature’ arrives on the platform which deals with the history of best known spanish serial killer that started sign their murders with cup cards from the Spanish deck by chance. The documentary series comes 20 years after the man known as the ‘card killer’ sowed panic in Madrid between January and July 2003 when he finally turned himself in Alfredo Galán, the ex-military author of six murders and three other attempts.

The research directed by Ricardo Pardo Liñares analyzes the unprecedented media phenomenon that surrounded the case, giving rise to the creation of a story that drew all the attention to the detriment of the victims, who end up being the forgotten ones. This is how he explains it to executive producer Marga Luis: “We were interested in delving into how many times the story we create around serial killers has nothing to do with reality.”

‘Shuffle: the signature of a murderer’ is based on the unprecedented access to testimony and evidence and in the incorporation of the unpublished story of surviving victims who claim their place in history, share their vision of the investigation and provide a new perspective.

More of 60 hours of recording, with more than 20 interviews with key figures in the case and two years of work give rise to this docuseries of three episodes that provide proven evidence and testimonies. A production that has the seal of Cuarzo Producciones, responsible for the award-winning series ‘¿Dónde está Marta?’, whose contributions have allowed the investigation of the case to be turned around.
